Former Manufactured Gas Plant Remediation

MT has the most extensive portfolio of Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) remediation projects in the Northeast. We have completed work on more than 35 MGP sites throughout the Northeast in the last 15 years. Many of our projects have included several with complications such as working in waterways or around active facilities. MT can successfully meet any complex civil, aquatic, or engineering challenge encountered during an MGP remediation project.

MT is highly experienced in the removal of Former MGP Gas Holders. These subsurface structures involve the excavation, segregation and disposal of coal tar sediments, liquids and debris. MT also has the capability to remove the holder structure and prepare the debris for off-site disposal.

We pioneered the use of thermal desorption for the treatment of MGP soils, and have proven that MGP wastes can be effectively removed and destroyed using this process.
