Thermal Treatment

MT has a specialty in developing, designing and implementing thermal treatment technology to treat contaminated soil. Since 1989, MT has been designing, constructing, and operating thermal treatment systems for the remediation of contaminated soil.

Indirect Thermal Desorption System (IDS)

The IDS has been successfully permitted at every project, through either state or federal agencies. The non-contact, condense and collect thermal desorption system has been proven highly effective in removing a wide variety of contaminants from soils, including PCBs and VOCs. As a mobile system with a high throughput capacity, the IDS' stackless design and contaminant recovery system also achieves public acceptance.

MT's EPA permit is the first of its kind to allow the use of a non-incineration treatment technology to remove PCBs from contaminated soils.

Low to Medium Temperature Thermal Desorption System

MT's Thermal Desorption System (TDS) has been in operation since July of 1989 and has processed several hundred thousand tons of contaminated soils to date. The TDS has a maximum throughput rate of 100 tons per hour and treats soils contaminated with VOCs, SVOCs, PAHs, coal tars and petroleum products. MT has also made significant investments to capture waste heat from the existing process to increase throughput and improve the overall on-line factor of the unit.

MT works with our clients to coordinate the characterization, transportation, storage, materials handling and thermal treatment of contaminated soils. MT offers pollution liability insurance and regularly conducts compliance and safety audits.
