MassDOT – Skyline Trail Reconstruction — Hinsdale, MA
This 2-mile project involved full-depth roadway reconstruction within the existing footprint, extending from the Route 8 intersection in Hinsdale to the Hinsdale/Peru town line.
The scope included extensive earthwork, full depth roadway excavation and reconstruction, bridge work (demolition, repair and construction), water control, wildlife and wetlands restoration and the installation of a complex sheeting and shoring earth support systems to facilitate the installation of two box culverts adjacent to a wetlands area. With extensive water control measures in place, the existing culverts were replaced with 8-foot by 8-foot precast concrete box culverts set below the stream bed.
